“The Sun Shield” – Congo

Carved shield in whose center is embossed a mask in the shape of a sun. The sun’s face is decorated with red for love, black for power, and white for the communion with tribal ancestors. The entire shield is embellished with geometric shapes made of closely etched lines, representing strength and unity.
