“The Crocodile of Power” – Mali

Mask in the shape of a crocodile, symbolizing tremendous strength. The bottom part of the mask is decorated with diamond shapes, and the center of the mask is divided in two by a long, arrow-shaped nose. On both sides of the nose are four protruding eyes, along with another set of eyes indicated by two grooves. The large head is designed in the shape of a hollow ellipse decorated by stripes, and the entire mask painted is black to symbolize power.
