“The Shell of a Woman” – Cameroon

Mask/shield intended to represent the figure of a woman. Two hands rest on either side of the body and her breasts on the chest. The woman’s body is carved with black and white diagonal lines that create a series of increasingly larger diamonds, one inside the other. The head of the mask features a long neck and the face of a woman whose long hair is carved to create the effect of a cascade down her head.
